The Alleviation of Pylorospasm and Colic in Infants by Reducing the Volume of the Food Intake per Feeding

The study and treatment, from a physiological and mechanical standpoint, of projectile vomiting and of enteric colic in infants, may solve many obscure and puzzling problems. Some of the factors entering into their solution would appear to be (1) the capacity of the stomach and intestines, (2) their motor mechanisms of digestion, and (3) the volume and character of the intragastric and intra-intestinal contents. In all probability the basic cause of projectile vomiting and of enteric colic is either the baby's faulty digestive machine or the normal machine wrongly handled. In practice the resulting technique has been so successful that the treatment is a pleasure rather than a headachle.
